Easy Crochet Snowflake: Free Crochet Pattern
There are different ways you could use this easy crochet snowflake motif. If you crochet it using crochet thread and stiffen it with watered-down glue, you could use it as a Christmas tree ornament. To finish it off, you could either add a store-bought wire ornament hanger to it, or you could crochet an extra hanging loop that isn’t part of the original pattern. To make a hanging loop for it, just add an extra 15 or so chains at the tip of one snowflake “arm” and then work a slip stitch to join the loop back to the same spot on the “arm”.
Or if you’d rather use it as an applique, that works well, too.
Snowflake Potholders
Here’s one possible use for the winter snowflake applique pictured above: You can use it to decorate these useful potholders. We invite you to get the free crochet potholder pattern right here on our website.
Easy Crochet Snowflake Trivet for Beginners
You don’t actually have to be a beginner at crochet to appreciate a snowflake pattern that works up this easily. The crochet work here is meditative and soothing — something that even advanced crocheters like to experience at times. Part of what gives this piece its panache is the addition of three-dimensional metal bottle caps. The resulting trivet makes a fantastic holiday gift or winter decoration.
Hexagon Crochet Motif #65 From Crochet Kaleidoscope by Sandra Eng
I’m not sure if Sandra Eng actually intended any of her hexagon motifs from Crochet Kaleidoscope to specifically be used as snowflake designs for making Christmas ornaments — but when I saw them, that’s the vision I had for them. I made a couple of these, and I’m planning to make more of them to give as Christmas gifts to neighbors and acquaintances this year. Here you can see how mine turned out:
They’re pretty, don’t you think?
Crochet Kaleidoscope is a book I highly recommend. It’s one of my all-time most-used, favorite crochet pattern books — and there are many more patterns in the book I plan to make from it. Between the motif patterns in the book, the finished project ideas and patterns, and all the helpful color information the book includes, I think you’ll find it endlessly useful as well.
There you have it: Our list of dazzling snowflake patterns. We hope you found some fantastic snowflake designs to add to your pattern stash.
