If you’re new to scrapbooking, you might be curious about what people mean when they mention “Becky Higgins Project Life”.

In a nutshell, “Project Life” is a successful scrapbooking product line that is designed to help people quickly and easily assemble stylish and creative scrapbook albums filled with their photos and journaling. In this system, scrapbooking embellishments are optional; you can use them, but you don’t have to feel obligated to embellish each page laboriously.

Project Life products have been a huge hit with the crafting public for a number of reasons:

  • The supplies are priced reasonably and are affordable.
  • The system doesn’t require any special talent or skill to use productively; anyone who can print out pictures and stick them in a pocket protector can enjoy success with these products.
  • The system is quick to use; you sit down with these products and you can crank out scrapbook albums reasonably fast — yet your albums have a good chance of looking amazing, because the products give you a failsafe formula to follow. It’s really hard to ruin a project you make using this system, which is a large part of the system’s appeal. Basically, Project Life makes scrapbooking dummy-proof.

At the heart of the Project Life system are photo pocket pages and cards that are designed to fit inside them. The photo pockets typically hold 4″x6″ photos or 3″x 4″ photos, or cards of the same size. It’s the Project Life photo pocket pages that really seem to form the backbone of this scrapbooking system. Each of these pocket pages has multiple pockets that give you an easy place to put photos, cards, papers, embellishments and journaling. They make it a no-brainer to get your photos, journaling and other page elements organized quickly.

You can also do Project Life digitally using the Project Life app. In that case, you don’t necessarily have to use the physical pockets; you can just do your layouts digitally and print them out if you want to.

There are numerous kits, classes, blog posts and project ideas structured around the Project Life system. Many of these were previously made available by Becky Higgins, the system’s originator; but there are also an abundance of compatible project ideas that are are made available by unaffiliated crafters who drew inspiration from Becky’s ideas and ran with them. In 2021, many other scrapbooking manufacturers are making products that are compatible with the Project Life system.

There are many advantages to crafting with Becky Higgins Project Life products. If you enjoy the creative process, but you aren’t inclined to spend weeks or months putting each scrapbook together, these products are worth your consideration.

The 12″ x 12″ Navy Weave scrapbook album (pictured at the top of this page) is one example of a scrapbook album you can buy from this product line. You might want to choose this album over competing albums because this one holds more pages than average — perhaps somewhere around 30-35, depending on how thick your pages are and how many scrapbooking embellishments you cram onto them.

Becky Higgins also makes a Project Life app available for interested crafters to use. The app has been recently updated.
