Planner Extension Packs from the Day-To-Day Collection by Maggie Holmes

Planner Discs from the Day-To-Day Collection by Maggie Holmes

I own and use Maggie Holmes’ plastic planner discs, and I have been satisfied with them overall.

That said, I don’t use these discs on my everyday planner that I carry with me everywhere and subject to a massive amount of abuse. For that purpose, I use Happy Planner’s metal expander discs.

So I DO RECOMMEND these plastic discs for non-primary uses like holding your old, used planner pages that you want to keep and for using in your non-primary planner (for example, if you have a secondary planner just for tracking things like your spring garden planting schedule, your kids’ summer activities or your meal planning.)

I DO NOT RECOMMEND these (or any!) plastic discs for use with your primary planner that will travel in your bag, get thrown in the car trunk, or accidentally get dropped or sat upon by your dog or anyone in your household.

These are FANTASTIC! I own them, use them and LOVE, love, love them.

Refill Paper Packs from the Day-To-Day Collection by Maggie Holmes

I own these, use them and LOVE them.

They have their pros and cons, but overall, the main selling point (for me) is that they are less expensive than Happy Planner’s paper packs.

The paper in these packs is also thinner, and the quality is not as good, as Happy Planner’s paper. I’m okay with that because I sometimes need planner paper to just write stuff on, and I don’t need it to be pretty or high quality. So having an affordable, lower quality option, for me is ideal. Your mileage may vary.

So that’s my review of this product, in a nutshell.

I’m only giving you the nutshell version of the review, and not a longer, detailed review, because I’m not sure it’s even possible to buy these paper packs any more. I’d buy more of them if I could find them, but none of the places I shop at currently have them in stock.

So, I didn’t review them, because what’s the point of reviewing something that you can’t actually buy right now? If I come across a place where you can actually buy them, I’ll post a more detailed review of them.

Stencils from the Day-To-Day Collection by Maggie Holmes

I know of two different stencils from this collection.

One of them I own and love. I don’t know of any place you can currently buy it, so I haven’t bothered reviewing it.

The other one, I don’t own, but I love the look of it, and I want to buy it. As of the time of this writing, it’s currently available for sale at A Cherry on Top Craft Shop.

Planners from the Day-To-Day Collection by Maggie Holmes

The planners are the “heart and soul” of the Day-To-Day collection, so I’d be a bad reviewer if I didn’t mention them here on this page.

However, I haven’t personally owned and used these planners, because I transitioned to using Maggie Holmes’ Day-To-Day collection after having actively used a similar discbound planner system (The Happy Planner by Me & My Big Ideas (MAMBI)).

So I already had Happy Planner covers, Happy Planner Discs, two Happy Planner punches, a stack of Happy Planner stickers, a Happy Planner pen pouch and Happy Planner paper packs galore. You can see several of these items, including the planner covers and the pen pouch, in my photos above.)

I also already had Happy Planner notebooks and guided journals, too.

So I was pretty well set up with the Happy Planner, and I had enough Happy Planner stuff to use for practically the rest of my life.

The problem was, I wasn’t 100% satisfied with my Happy Planner.

The main reasons I stopped using my Happy Planner classic planner:

• It drives me bonkers that the tabs aren’t reusable, and that part of the monthly layout is printed on the tab pages.
• I hate it that the monthly dashboards for each month aren’t behind the tabs for that month. They are always situated at the end of the previous month, behind the previous month’s tab and in front of that month’s tab.

These 2 problems were deal killers for me. After more than a year of using Happy Planners, I was dissatisfied with them enough that I decided to change planner systems.

Maggie Holmes’ Planner Extension Packs solved both of the problems I had with the Happy Planner, and I have been totally satisfied with them overall.

But, instead of buying a new Maggie Holmes Day-To-Day planner, I simply purchased multiple Maggie Holmes planner extension packs and began using those – because I didn’t need the planner covers, and I prefer using metal discs, which Maggie Holmes doesn’t offer.

As I mentioned above, I did buy some of Maggie’s plastic discs, too (to use for holding old planner pages and notebook pages, mostly).

But my primary planner is subjected to a massive amount of use and abuse, and plastic discs aren’t ideal, because I break them with alarming frequency. The environmentalist in me is not okay with that. Metal discs are a necessity for me because they do not break when I accidentally drop my planner or stuff it in a crowded bag.

So I kept using my Happy Planner metal expander discs and the Happy Planner covers I already had. I was able to simply add the Maggie Holmes planner extension pages into the setup I already had going, and I transitioned fairly seamlessly from one system into the other.

Happy Planner does offer waayyyyyyyyyyyy more stickers, fill paper packs and other accessories than Maggie Holmes does. I’ve been using my Happy Planner stickers and other accessories along with my Maggie Holmes planner extension pages.

For me, it has been possible to use items from both brands interchangeably. The Happy Planner extension packs and planners are a no-go for me, for the reasons I mentioned above, but I still enjoy using all their other goodies like stickers, punches, sticky notes, guided journals, notebooks and metal discs.

So there you have it: Those are my thoughts on items from the Maggie Holmes Day-To-Day Planner collection.
