Discbound planners are planners that use a binding system made up of discs. The discs can be small ones that hold around 60 sheets of paper; medium-sized that hold a whole calendar’s worth of pages; or large-sized discs sometimes referred to as “expander discs.”
A discbound planner’s main advantage is that you can arrange pages in it the way you want to. You can add pages, take them out and move them around as needed. In contrast, other types of bindings like traditional spiral-bound and perfect-bound planners do not empower you with this flexibility.
Discbound Planner Brands
The brands actively making discbound planners right now are as follows:
- Happy Planner / Me & My Big Ideas / Create 365
- Inkwell Press
The following brands have made discbound planners in the past, but I’m not sure about their current status:

- Maggie Holmes / Crate Paper — A previous collection was known as the “Day-To-Day” collection. Those planners were all undated, so if you find any available for sale, they should still be totally usable. But it seems to me that they have been getting harder to find lately, and I worry that maybe they were discontinued. If you want more details, I invite you to check out my pages about Maggie Holmes’ Day-to-Day Planner Collection, which includes information about the planners, calendar extension packs, discs, punch, stickers, papers, stamps and stencils.

More About the Discs Available for Discbound Planners
Planner discs are typically available in either metal or plastic. They come in a broad variety of sizes, colors and designs. Some of them have a negative-space shape or design in the center. For example, Happy Planner discs typically have heart designs in the center, although they sometimes make discs with other hole shapes, too.
