August Garden Journal Pages for Discbound Planners Like Happy Planner, Arc or Tul

Happy August, Crafty Friends!

Did you plant a garden this year? If so, how’s your harvest coming along? Did you enjoy any noteworthy successes, or did the bugs and birds eat everything before you had a chance to?

To those of you who did plant gardens, I hope your plants are flourishing, and that you havested lots of delightful flowers, vegetables, herbs, fruits and / or nuts — whatever it is you planted.

Have you started a garden journal to track your gardening successes and failures?

Sadly, I don’t have a garden this year. 🙁 But when I am actively gardening, I make garden journal pages to keep a record of what I’ve done and to make to-do lists that keep me on track on what needs to be done in the future. If this topic is interesting to you, you’re invited to check out more of my garden journal pages and read more about my process for making them.

If you maintain a garden journal, I’d love to know more about what you record in it and how it has helped you achieve your gardening goals. What do your garden journal pages look like? The floor is open for comments, so please feel free to ask questions or share insights in the comments area below.

Thanks so much for visiting! I truly appreciate your presence here.

A July Limerick, for Crafters in the USA*

Our holiday in July’s on the Fourth.

Freedom — priceless its worth.

Let’s have fireworks and beer,

Parades far and near,

And picnics everywhere, from the south to the north.

We crafters have other ways

To spend our holidays.

We stitch and create

Even staying up late

To work on our crafts and displays.

DIY Jewelry for Fourth of July

DIY Jewelry for Fourth of July

In July, we celebrate Independence.

To do so, we could crochet pendants

In red, white and blue

Or other colors too

And we’ll make plenty more projects hence.

*To those of you who are outside the USA, please feel free to re-color any of our Fourth of July projects into other colors — maybe your own country’s colors if you like, or whichever color combinations you prefer.

Also, I invite everyone else to join in the limerick-writing fun, if you like. I’m writing these from my own limited experience, and since I have lived in the USA for most of my life, those are the experiences I have to draw on. I really don’t mean to exclude anyone, and would be happy to see family-friendly limericks from crocheters around the world expressing other viewpoints. Bonus points if they’re silly, tongue-in-cheek, and knitting or crochet-related, but they do have to stay family-friendly!

Accessorize for Fourth of July With a Red, White and Blue Bracelet

Independence Day is coming up soon; this year, it’ll happen on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. If you’re hoping to make some fun craft projects to celebrate this holiday, one of the things you might want to plan on is creating some fun wearable accessories ahead of time, so you can wear them out to whichever picnics, barbecues, parties or fireworks festivities you plan on attending.

Red and Blue Beaded Bracelet for Fourth of July or Every Day Wear

You can make this simple-but-lovely bracelet using metallic floss and round glass beads. If you’ve never crocheted with beads before, this bracelet is a fantastic introduction to the technique; it’s a quick project that proves that bead crochet does not have to be difficult, despite what you may have heard to the contrary.

For those of you in the USA, this bracelet is an ideal way to accessorize for patriotic holidays such as the Fourth of July. It’s a fabulous everyday accessory as well; you could make it for Fourth of July and then wear it whenever you’re dressing in red or blue in the days following.
