3. Snowflake Wreath

You can make a pretty wreath by crocheting bunches of snowflakes using white crochet thread and then attaching them to a wreath form. This idea came from a crochet pattern book that is no longer in print, but I think the idea is still a usable one, so I’m leaving it here for you to consider. Feel free to use any of these crocheted snowflake patterns for this purpose.

To make a wreath from natural greenery, you start by grabbing a pair of pruning shears and using it to gathering evergreen branches and other botanicals. It’s best if you harvest from your own property (if you have property with suitable trees on it) or a friend’s property (with permission); please don’t gather branches from public parks or other public spaces.

If you don’t have a place to go and gather greenery, you can also chop branches off of your Christmas tree to use for this purpose — that works, too.

You’ll need a wreath form of some sort, and a way of attaching the greenery to the wreath form.

It looks to me like the people in the picture above are using colored craft wire to attach their greenery to their wreath forms.

Here’s another idea for dressing up a wire wreath frame with greenery.

5. Corn Husk Wreath

When I was a kid, I made wreaths similar to the greenery wreaths pictured above; but instead of the wire wreath frames, we used straw wreath forms. Instead of greenery, we used corn husks. The corn husks had been soaked in water to make them more pliable, and they lost their green color; they were more of a natural, off-white color at the time we used them.

We used u-shaped pins to pin the corn husks to the wreath form.

6. Pine Cone Wreath

Do you have any tall pine trees around your neighborhood? If so, here’s the perfect idea for using up all those pine cones they like to drop on the ground: Make them into a charming pine cone wreath like the one pictured here.

So there you have it: that’s my short-but-sweet roundup of DIY Christmas Wreath Projects and Ideas. I hope you found the inspiration you needed to craft your own spectacular Christmas wreath. Happy crafting!
