Delicate Crochet is one of my favorite collections of womenswear crochet patterns. The collection includes a diverse range of patterns by multiple designers including Sharon Hernes Silverman, Kristin Omdahl, Vashti Braha, Marty Miller, Robyn Chachula and others (including yours truly, Amy Solovay, your hostess here at KnittingCrochetCrafts.com).

Patterns included in the book range from garments to accessories. There are tops, sweaters, scarves, shawls, wraps, a skirt, a pair of fingerless gloves and a necklace.

The cohesive theme that binds these diverse styles together: They’re all crocheted with yarns that are #3 or lighter on the Craft Yarn Council’s yarn weight system. This thematic approach was intentional, because it empowered the designers to create a collection of patterns that are all drapey, sophisticated and wearable.

The book also includes step-by-step photo tutorials and symbol crochet charts.

The focus of this book is entirely on women’s crocheted tank tops and tunics that work well for all seasons. In spring and summer, you can pair these cute tops with shorts, skirts or pants for a breezy look. In fall and winter, you can easily layer them under jackets, cardigans, sweaters or hoodies for a warmer experience.

In a sea of mediocre crochet pattern books, this one stands out for having AMAZING designs that are truly wearable, flattering and visually interesting. If you like to crochet womenswear, this is a book you are going to LOVE.

The The Crochet Closet isn’t a brand new crochet book, but so far the styles featured in the book have stood the test of time. They are classic sweater designs that still look fantastic, even though several years have passed since this book was originally published. The book features everyday sweater, coat and cardigan patterns that you’d want to wear to work or out with friends. They’re versatile and practical designs that could go practically anywhere. I want to make just about every sweater in this book!

8. Continuous Crochet

If you want to crochet artistic clothing and accessories without having to weave in excessive numbers of loose ends, Continuous Crochet is a book you should consider adding to your library. It includes crochet patterns for ladies’ sweaters, hats, shawls and more.

9. Crochet Red

Crochet Red is another one of my favorite collections of womenswear crochet patterns. The collection includes patterns by numerous creative designers; the contributor list reads like the latest “who’s who” list of knit and crochet pattern designers.

This collection includes a diverse selection of different projects and styles — but the book makes a cohesive statement, thanks to the fact that every single one of the designs included is crocheted with red yarn.

Most, but not all, of the patterns in this collection are wearable womenswear pieces. This book gives you patterns for making home decor items, garments and accessories including sweaters, hats, scarves, cowls, bags, purses, blankets and more. There’s also a bonus pattern for a cute, lacy crocheted heart that I think is quite beautiful.
