Art Supplies

Is fine art your jam?

If you’re into painting and drawing, I invite you to check out my list of top recommended art supplies.

Paint

I have a strong preference for Winsor & Newton paints. However, I’ve tried lots of other paint brands, too.

Paper

Welcome to our ultimate guide to choosing paper for arts and crafts. Pictured here, we have a Collection of Drawing Paper and Other Papers for Art and Crafts. This photo is from my personal art supplies stash. I can highly recommend all of the papers pictured here; read on for more info about these and a broad variety of other artist papers and craft papers.

I use a broad variety of paper to make my collage art and mixed media art projects. Strathmore Bristol Board is my top favorite. In general, I recommend Strathmore paper as being high quality and worth the money. For more info on the paper I’ve been using in my projects, I invite you to check out this guide to paper.

Gesso and Primer

Gesso and Primer for Painting and Mixed Media Art

You can use gesso or primer for priming either paper or canvas before you start painting, stenciling or doing other mixed media art techniques on its surface. Check out my top picks for gesso and primer HERE.

Canvas

I used to do a lot of painting on canvas, but I haven’t done much of that lately. I don’t currently have a recommendation for canvas suppliers.
