Want to crochet granny squares you can use for various purposes? Perhaps you’d enjoy making and owning a granny square blanket or bedspread. Or perhaps you’d like to try crocheting other sorts of projects such as granny square tote bags, table runners and hats. If you want to crochet granny squares for any purpose at all, we invite you to consider the following list of our picks for the best granny square crochet pattern books:

If you are new to crochet, and you are looking for basic, traditional granny squares used to create exquisitely lovely projects, this is the book I’d recommend to you. 2. Clever Crochet Squares
This book is a game changer, because it will teach you how to crochet granny squares that have mid-row color changes, which opens up a world of colorful possibilities. If you are interested in creating granny squares that have more visual interest and appeal than the usual grannies you see around, please do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this book! This is the book I’d recommend to you if you are an intermediate or experienced crocheter who likes crocheting grannies but is looking for patterns that are a bit unusual and out of the ordinary.
I apologize that I do not have a review of this book available yet for you to read, but I own the book, have read it, and have started working a couple of the projects in it (and therein lies the holdup — I never finished the projects, which is why I never got back to finish the review.) Anyway, I should really just write the review already, but the short version of my review is, this is a five-star book that any serious crochet enthusiast will want to own, use, work from, take to heart, and explore in depth.

Unexpected afghans features patterns for crocheting some of the prettiest and most interesting blankets and afghans I have ever come across. These blankets are made using bunches of different crochet techniques. There are spectacular granny square afghans and many other types of afghans, too.

However, as of the time I just checked on 1-15-2024, this book is out of print.
