Crochet, Sew and Quilt Lovely Christmas Gifts With These 65+ Outstanding Christmas Patterns!
Are you interested in getting your hands on a whole bunch of patterns you can use for crocheting, quilting and / or sewing your own Christmas gifts? And furthermore, would you also be interested in making your own Christmas decorations? If you celebrate Christmas, and you’re in need of holiday-themed crochet, sewing or quilting patterns to work on, Annie’s Christmas Special 2020 is a fantastic publication to be aware of.
Why?
Reasons:
- This publication has some of the cutest, jolliest, and all-around most appealing patterns ever,
- This publication offers you a better value than many others; it contains a whopping 65+ patterns.
- This publication gives you patterns for crochet, quilting and sewing, whereas many others only give you patterns in one craft technique. So you only have to buy one book, instead of having to buy 3 different books that cover each craft separately. If you do all 3 of these crafts, you’re sure to appreciate that; and if you don’t already do all 3 of these crafts, perhaps you’ll be inspired to try one of these techniques you’re not already familiar with and learn how to do it.
What You Need to Know About Annie’s Christmas Special 2020:
Publisher: Annie’s
Copyright Date: 2020
Number of Pages: 140
Skill Level: I recommend this title to crafters of all skill levels. If you’re a total beginner to sewing or quilting, you could start by making the cute snowman pillow on page 22 of this book, the “Gifty Potholders” on page 30, the “Chickadee Quilt” on page 28 or the Holiday Heartland Barn Quilt; these are all rated as beginner-level patterns. There are also patterns in the book rated as “easy” and “intermediate”.
The Focus of This Book:
This book is focused entirely on giving you 65+ DIY Christmas craft projects to make. You get patterns and instructions for making Christmas blankets, Christmas quilts, Christmas ornaments, Christmas wreaths, a Christmas stocking, table linens to use for setting your holiday table, and more. Check out a few pictures of the included projects and patterns below:
Crochet Projects Included in This Book:
Holly Jolly Llama
Holly Jolly Llama Crochet Pattern: You Could Make This Cute Llama as Either a Larger Stuffed Toy or a Smaller Christmas Ornament
I think this pattern is just the cutest, and I made one of these for my little niece. I didn’t make her wait for Christmas to give it to her; she already has it, and she LOVES it! It turned out adorable!
There are 2 different variations of this pattern. One is a larger stuffed llama toy, and the other is a smaller llama Christmas tree ornament. Both versions are adorable. I made the larger stuffed toy, and it’s pretty big — big and eye-catching enough to be an impressive gift underneath the Christmas tree on Christmas morning, if you decide to gift it to a special kiddo as a Christmas gift.
I thought the pattern was clear and easy to follow overall. When I was making the llama’s legs, my stitch count in between the two sets of legs was one different than the patter’s recommendation; I’m not sure if that was my fault or the pattern’s, but my project turned out well regardless. I modified the cape so I could use a sparkly yarn in a lighter weight (niece’s request) and I omitted the tassels around the neck. We love the results!
Winter Wonderland Christmas Wreath
You crochet the snowflake accent on this pretty Christmas wreath. You get both the crochet pattern for the snowflake, plus instructions for making the entire wreath (although the wreath instructions don’t go into much depth, they are adequate to point you in the right direction for what to do to come up with a nice finished wreath).

This is NOT a complete list of the crochet patterns included in this book. There are many others beyond just the ones you see pictured above.
Quilting and Sewing Projects Included in This Book:
Snowman Pillow
This is a beginner-level pattern.
Christmas Pines Applique Pillow Pattern
This pattern is recommended for confident beginners.
Plus More!
my favorite sewing and quilting projects from this book aren’t actually pictured on this page, but I’ll tell you a little bit about them:
The Chickadee Quilt for Beginners
There’s a quilting pattern included in this book for making a Chickadee Quilt that measures 64 1/2″ x 76 1/2″. I love this design exactly as pictured, but it doesn’t actually have to have chickadees if you’d rather use a different fabric than the one the original pattern designer used.
Gifty Potholder for Beginners
This pattern is sooooooo clever! It’s for making a round hanging potholder that has a pocket in it. If you want to give this as a gift to someone else, you can stuff the pocket full of goodies like wooden measuring spoons, small cookie cutters, packets of brownie mixes or whatever other little “gifty” thing you might want to give to the recipient. Then after the recipient takes the gifts out, this item could double as either a potholder, an oven mitt or a hot pad. I totally LOVE this. It is so pretty and so useful.

The Best Things About This Book
These patterns are fantastic!
A section in the back has helpful how-to instructions in case you need to brush up on your embroidery, quilting, applique or crochet basics. These instructions are illustrated with clear line-art diagrams showing you various embroidery stitches, crochet stitches and quilting techniques.
A buyer’s guide introduces you to all the suppliers who sell materials needed to make these projects — although the supplies used are ones you’d be likely to already have in your craft supplies stash if you’re already an experienced crafter.
This book includes clear, usable instructions that will guide you to making a whole bunch of worthwhile Christmas projects.
This book offers you the best value I’m aware of on a Christmas craft pattern book. You really cannot beat the price on this — it’s an amazing deal.
There is no “average craft pattern book”; craft books are all over the place as far as the prices, numbers of patterns they include, depth of information, quality of instructions, etc. That said, a typical craft pattern book has about 25 – 30 patterns in it and costs about $25. I say this book is an outstanding value because it gives you more than twice that many patterns, and it costs less than half that price. Short of borrowing a book from the library or buying one used, you really can’t beat the value you’re going to get if you buy this book. It is seriously an amazing value for the money you spend on it.
Other Observations About This Book
This publication makes a fantastic gift for the crafters on your gift list. If you want to buy copies of it as a gift for others, please be aware that you’ll need to order physical copies of it rather than digital editions. There is no easily viable way to gift a digital PDF of this title to someone else.
This title has a small amount of advertising in it, but the book is mostly patterns with very few ads.
Conclusion
I’m delighted to recommend this book to other craft enthusiasts, particularly to crocheters, quilters and sewists who are in need of Christmas patterns.

Update 10-10-2024: I took it off the list for 2024 because this book is getting hard to find, and there are newer publications I’m now recommending instead. If you prefer knitting over sewing, quilting or crafting, you might be happier with Jorid Linvik’s Big Book of Christmas Knits — which is another delightful book that I highly recommend.
