Important Disclosure: Most of the pages on this website are unbiased crochet book recommendations. However, this one is NOT — because I contributed 2 of the accessory patterns to this book, an elegant beaded necklace and a pair of ruffled fingerless gloves. These are 2 of the nicest crochet accessory patterns I have ever designed; I think they are simply gorgeous, and they are two of my most frequently-complimented crochet projects.

The other accessory patterns included in this book are also fantastic. There are some lovely scarf, cowl and shawl patterns included. So, of course, I strongly believe this book deserves its place at the top of my list of best crochet accessory pattern books.

3. Crocheted Beanies and Slouchy Hats by Julie King

Crochet Beanies and Slouchy Hats Book
Crochet Beanies and Slouchy Hats Book by Julie King, Published by Stackpole Books

If you’re in need of crochet hat patterns, definitely take a look at Crocheted Beanies and Slouchy Hats; it’s at the top of my list of best crochet hat pattern books for 2026.

2026’s top trendy hat styles include berets and beanies. So, even though this is not a brand new book, it offers a fantastic selection of patterns for crocheting this year’s top trends (although the trendiest beanie silhouettes in 2026 are less slouchy and more fitted than the ones presented in this book).

So, if looking trendy is important to you, I’d recommend the making the berets rather than the slouchiest of the slouchy beanies.

If you want to crochet fitted beanies rather than slouchy ones, skip this book and check out the other suggestions posted below, because for that purpose, there are better books than this one.

All together, there are 31 interesting crochet hat patterns included in the book, including one earflap beanie.

So there you have it! That’s the list of the best crochet accessory pattern books in 2026.

Methodology for Choosing the Books on This List: How would anyone go about determining what’s the “best” book about crochet accessory patterns?

There are different ways you could approach that task. Here’s how I chose what to put on this list:

In all cases, I’ve spent quite a bit of time with these crochet accessory pattern books, both reading through the instructions and looking at the photos. If a book is mentioned here, it’s because I either own a copy of it, or have owned a copy in the past, or have borrowed the book from the library and am well acquainted with it.

In many cases, I have actually worked at least one project from the book, either making a complete project or perhaps a gauge swatch / motif / or part of it.

This approach to making a “best patterns list” has both upsides and limitations. Obviously, it’s impossible for me to own and work from every crochet accessory pattern book that was ever written, although my husband seems to think I am trying to accomplish that. 🙂 So the downside is that there are plenty of worthy books that are not included on this list, simply because I haven’t got my hands on copies of them and therefore can’t vouch for them one way or the other.

The upside is that you can be sure these are authentic reviews — which I think is important, considering the proliferation of fake reviews available on the Internet these days.

It’s also important for you to be aware that I am a real person. I hold an Associate of Arts degree in textile design from FIDM LA (The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.) I worked in the textile industry for about a decade. I’m knowledgeable about textiles in general and crochet specifically.

I’m also knowledgeable about fashion trends. I used to teach a college-level trend forecasting course to fashion design and fashion merchandising majors.

The books recommended above offer you a good mix of trendy and classic styles that will keep you looking fresh and relevant in 2026.

So here you have it: that’s my list of the best crochet accessory pattern books for your consideration.
