Free Instructions for How to Crochet a Dishcloth or Washcloth
Dishcloths and washcloths can be more fun to crochet than you might think. While they aren’t the most glamourous projects you could be making, you can really have some fun trying out oddball color combinations and intriguing new stitch patterns. Dishcloths are also reasonably easy to crochet, and they don’t have to fit anybody — which is a huge plus if you aren’t that excited about taking gauge measurements.

Instructions for How to Do Cross Stitch on Crochet
Most people who cross stitch use Aida cloth or similar surfaces to do their stitching, but did you know that you can also work your cross stitch projects onto a crocheted background? Think about all the possibilities this opens up for you as a crocheter. If you have the patience to do this, it means you have zillions more charts to work with than you ever thought you did.
The caveats: This technique is more time consuming than either crochet or cross stitch on its own; and, if you choose a colorful chart, there are tedious numbers of ends to weave in. So, in theory, it sounds great — but in practice, you’ll want to select your cross stitch charts carefully and use ones that don’t require massive numbers of colors. I’ve designed some free cross stitch patterns that are specifically intended to be worked on your crochet projects, and these don’t have unreasonable numbers of loose ends to worry about. If this technique sounds interesting to you, I invite you to give it a try.
Fabric Crochet Instructions
To do the fabric crochet technique, you simply crochet with fabric instead of yarn — but you’d be correct if you were thinking there’s a little more to it than that. See these fabric crochet instructions for more details on how to do this fun and rewarding crochet technique.
Filet Crochet Instructions
Would you like to try using double crochet stitches, chains and other basic stitches to create meshes and blocks you can group in different arrangements to make amazing, solid-colored pictorial designs, alphabet letters, lace designs, and other patterns? If so, filet crochet is going to be a must-try technique for you.

Wire Crochet Instructions
Crocheting with wire is a little trickier than crocheting with yarn is. The main difference: It isn’t as easy to correct mistakes when you’re working with wire as it is when you’re working with yarn. There are some other little quirks, too; see our wire crochet instructions to learn all the ins and outs of this interesting and useful crochet technique.
