A Scrapbooking Layout About Shopping and Resupplying in Crete
A Scrapbooking Layout About Shopping and Resupplying in Crete

My husband, Mike, and I were liveaboard cruising sailors for about 5 years. We spent several of those years cruising around the Mediterranean Sea and traveling in Mediterranean countries.

As cruising sailors, one of our major challenges was keeping enough supplies aboard our boat to live on. If you’re used to having a car and a familiar nearby grocery store, shopping is reasonably easy. Sure, it’s a chore to do it, but it’s doable.

But shopping for supplies gets to be more of a challenge if you don’t have a car, you’re in a new location every week or so, and you aren’t fluent in the local language where you’re trying to shop. Plus you get much more selective about what you’re going to buy if you have to carry your groceries all the way home.

Here’s a brand new scrapbooking layout I just created with one of my photos from this time period in our lives. On the day this photo was taken, we spent just about our whole day walking around, checking out the stores and shopping for supplies that we needed.

What You Need to Know to Create a Similar Craft Project of Your Own

Whether or not you’ve gone shopping in Crete lately, you might have vacation photos of your own you’d like to document.

If you like the look of this page, you could easily make one of your own that’s similar.

I made this page using scrapbooking supplies by Stamperia. However, there are many different papers and supplies you could use for documenting your own memories in your scrapbook.

I used papers from the “Silent Sea” and Cosmos Infinity” collections, and I also used mixed media supplies on the page.

The paper I chose for my background had some colors that distracted from my photo, so I used Stamperia’s opaque white primer to hide the offending colors.

But before I got that far, I also tried something that didn’t work as I’d expected: I started by attempting to use the Iridescent Pearl White color of Stamperia’s Aquacolor spray. That product didn’t adequately cover the colors I wanted to hide, but it added a really gorgeous shimmer to the page. (You can see my full review of Stamperia’s Aquacolor HERE.)

So then I layered Stamperia’s primer over the Pearl White Aquacolor, and that did a better job of covering the colors I didn’t want.

Then I put more Pearl White Aquacolor over top of the primer. It is so shimmery and pretty in person! But unfortunately, my photo doesn’t really capture the shimmer very well.

Thanks so much for checking out my project. I appreciate your interest!
