Pictured here, you can see a brand new scrapbooking layout I just made.

Scrapbooking Layout: Crochet Infinity Scarf
Scrapbooking Layout: Crochet Infinity Scarf

I’m working on making scrapbooks featuring my travels and the craft projects I’ve made in the past.

This layout features one of my all-time favorite crochet projects: A crochet lace infinity scarf that includes a simple scalloped edging.

Funny thing — I’m not in very many of the photos in my scrapbooks. Almost all the photos I have of myself are ones where I’m modeling a scarf or hat that I made for one of my craft websites. So I have a bunch of different pictures of me wearing this scarf and others like it, but not that many pictures of me doing other things.

At the time I made this project, infinity scarves were a top fad in mainstream winter fashion. Knitters and crocheters are still very much into making these, but the rest of the scarf-wearing public seems to have mostly moved on from wearing this style.

I still wear mine, though, because there are many advantages to it.

Namely, you don’t have to worry about how to tie an infinity scarf. You just loop it around your neck as many times as you can:

  • There is no decision fatigue about how to tie it;
  • there aren’t any worries about whether you arranged the ends evenly (because there are no ends);
  • and the scarf isn’t coming unknotted, because there are no knots. It is staying on until you consciously decide to take it off.

I have plenty of other scarves, including many of the long, rectangular variety (I mean, I crochet and knit, so these things just somehow multiply in my closet. They seem to sort of make themselves when I am not paying attention.)

But on cold fall / winter mornings when I wake up tired and need to be out the door on time, I generally shun those long rectangular scarves and instead reach for an infinity scarf because it is just so easy to style it without having to fuss for hours.

So I have about one zillion photos of me wearing this infinity scarf, because I designed this scarf pattern to post on the internet at a website I used to create content for. My husband and I did several photo shoots to be sure we had enough pictures to release and promote the crochet scarf pattern.

If you want to make one of these scarves for yourself, the free pattern for crocheting it is still available online. You can find it here.

Craft Supplies You’ll Need for Making a Scrapbooking Layout Similar to This One

If you want to make a scrapbooking layout similar to this one, you’ll need patterned paper, adhesive, a journaling block, and a pen or marker for journaling. You’ll also need a tool for cutting your paper — ideally either a paper cutter or a pair of scissors + a ruler to mark straight lines.

I used the following supplies to make this page:

How to Make a Similar Scrapbooking Layout

  • Use adhesive to stick a piece of 6×6″ patterned paper to a piece of 6×8″ patterned paper.
  • Grab your marker or pen and write your journaling onto your journaling block.
  • Use adhesive to stick your journaling block to your patterned papers.
  • Mat your photo using your adhesive and your woodgrain patterned paper.
  • Use adhesive to stick your matted photo onto your patterned paper.
  • That’s it! Stick it in your photo album and enjoy your handiwork.
