The Focus of This Book:

In this book, you’ll find 8 different mosaic overlay crochet blanket charts and patterns, plus numerous work-in-progress and tutorial pictures that will show you how to crochet these blankets.

Examples of Crochet Projects Included in This Book:

The Fluffy Snowflakes Blanket

This blanket features a diagonal grid pattern with fluffy snowflake motifs inside each grid unit.

The Chocolate Gems Blanket

This is another blanket pattern featuring a prominent diagonal grid design.

The Tutti Frutti Blanket

This colorful blanket features a gridded tile pattern.

The Winter Elements Blanket

This is my favorite project in the book. It’s a complex striped design featuring many intricate details.

This is not a complete project list!

The Best Things About This Book

These blankets are all spectacular! They’d make impressive gifts, or they’d be a beautiful addition to your own home decor.

The color photographs in this book are appealing and well done.

The book includes helpful tips, plus photo tutorials with instructions for several useful crochet techniques like foundation single crochet and double borders.

These patterns look complex, but once you wrap your head around how to do this technique, it’s easier than you’d think — because you’re only crocheting with one color at a time.

(Still, this is not a book I’d recommend to complete beginners. If you’re a beginner to crochet, see this page of recommendations for the best beginning crochet books for recommendations that would be more easily doable for you at this stage of your crochet journey).

Other Observations About This Book

There is not a lot of variety in these projects. All the projects in the book are blankets, and they are all made using the same technique.

You’ll get the best value from this book if you can read and use charts. This book does include text instructions, too, but there are places in the book where you might need to use both text and charts together, or just use the charts, to figure out what to do. So if you can’t / don’t want to use charts, you might find yourself at a disadvantage with this book, and working from it probably isn’t going to be the most enjoyable experience for you. You’re likely to enjoy better success with a different book.

I checked this book out of the library multiple times but did not actually have time to work from it. Since the patterns are all charted, it looks to me like they’d be fairly easy to follow.

Conclusion

I’m delighted to recommend this book to other crochet enthusiasts, particularly to crocheters who enjoy working from charts and want to make new blankets that are similar in design to the one pictured on the book’s front cover.
