My husband, Mike, and I were liveaboard cruising sailors for about 5 years. We spent several of those years cruising around the Mediterranean Sea. It would be hard to choose our favorite destination, but in hindsight, I think the Greek islands offered some of the loveliest scenery for photographing.
I was enchanted by the stunning green door you see in the photograph above.
On the day this photo was taken, Mike and I spent most of our day taking a long, leisurely walk around the island. We had no specific itinerary in mind other than just taking in all the sights we encountered along the way.
What You Need to Know to Create a Similar Scrapbooking Page of Your Own
Whether or not you’ve gone wandering around the island of Crete lately, you might have vacation photos of your own you’d like to document.
If you like the look of this page, you could easily make one of your own that’s similar.
The easiest way to create a frame for your layout is using the Frame Punch Board by We R Makers (formerly known as “We R Memory Keepers.”) You can create your frame using any high-quality paper that is sturdy enough to withstand the punching and cutting process. If you want to use the same paper I used, I recommend the Patina patterned paper by Craft Consortium. (See my review HERE.)
The other supplies I used have mostly been discontinued, but don’t worry — there are plenty of comparable supplies you can use. Here’s a list of the supplies I used plus some suggestions for comparable items you can substitute.
- Patterned paper from 49 and Market’s Vintage Artistry Serenity collection; I used this for the base of the layout. Any heavy weight, light blue patterned paper would work for this.
- Two other patterned papers in colors that enhance your photo;
- include 3 small brads, buttons or enamel dots; I used older brads by Queen and Co. that were originally purple colored. I had to paint them to match my layout.
- Stickers: I used stickers from two different Happy Planner sticker books — “Year to Shine Goals” and “Color Me Happy” (but you can’t really see the one from “Color Me Happy” because it blends into my patterned paper).
- Narrow brown ribbon (but you should use whatever ribbon color best matches your photo; there’s no need to find this exact color of brown for your ribbon.)
