Since spills and messes are inevitable, napkins are an essential component of the dining experience. On this page, we highlight some lovely patterns that can enhance this experience; by using napkin rings and cloth napkins, you can make your table settings much more appealing than they would be if you just stick some paper towels on the table.
1. Beaded Wire Crochet Napkin Rings
If you’ve never crocheted with beads or wire before, this project is a great introduction to the technique. You get both a free pattern AND a free tutorial that explain everything you need to know to make these pretty napkin rings — plus you’ll be able to adapt your newfound knowledge to making jewelry and other projects as well.

2. Beaded Crochet Christmas Napkin Rings
These Christmas napkin rings are really similar to the solid-colored, beaded napkin rings pictured above. The main difference is that here you’re working with several different colors, which means you need to do a bit more planning beforehand — but the final result is more colorful, and opens up a wider range of themes and possibilities. If you want to make these napkin rings for Christmas, of course, we suggest using Christmas colors for your beads and wire. However, you could choose to make these in many other color schemes if you prefer.

Cloth Napkins With Crocheted or Knitted Edgings
Cloth napkins are basically just squares or rectangles of fabric with edge treatments that prevent unraveling and keep them looking neat. The quickest way to make a napkin is to cut out a square or rectangle of fabric and then sew the edges using a sewing machine; but if you want a fancier look for your napkins, you can knit or crochet edgings around them. We’ve provided a whole bunch of free edging patterns you can use for this purpose (or other purposes).
We hope you’ll enjoy making and using any of these designs for napkins and napkin rings to beautify your table and make mealtimes a little more special.
