Vicki Boutin is one of the rock stars of paper crafting. She’s well-known not only for her scrapbooking and mixed media art projects, but also for the colorful, playful, fun and artistic collections of art and craft supplies she designs.
Historically, Vicki was a designer for the manufacturer known as American Crafts. In 2026, she’s now also designing for 49 & Market.
Awhile ago, Vicki designed a creative and inspiring collection called “Discover + Create.” The collection includes, among other things, papers, chipboard frames, and acrylic clear stamps.
But if you ask me, the absolute best item in this collection is the Discover + Create 6×8” Album Kit.

I am a huge, longtime fan of Vicki Boutin’s work, and I own bunches of her fabulous art and craft supplies – and out of all the Vicki Boutin items I own, this album is my all-time favorite thing yet!
So far, I’ve purchased 5 of these albums, and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy more of them.
Here’s my Vicki Boutin Discover + Create album review, along with some project ideas you can check out if you need inspiration for how to use your own Discover + Create albums.
The TLDR summary of my review: I highly recommend Vicki Boutin Discover + Create albums to other crafters (WITH CAVEATS)!

The Best Things About Discover + Create Albums
There are a lot of different albums, and album sizes, out there. Vicki Boutin’s Discover + Create albums hold 6″ x 8″ pages; but, in my opinion, these are much better than the typical 6”x8” album.
Why?
Well, there are three reasons:
- The spines on these albums measure a whopping 3.25” wide! So they fit a lot more pages than the typical 6”x8” albums fit.
- These albums have D rings instead of the typical round rings.
- Many 6×8” albums come with a variety of pocket page protectors, and so do the Discover + Create albums. But one of the things that really differentiates these albums from others like it are the 8 unique and lovely cardstock pages that feature unique and inspiring artwork by Vicki Boutin. These pages are treasures!

- You could use it for art journaling or junk journaling.
- You could use it for displaying coloring pages, illustrations, paintings or drawings up to 8.5″ x 11″ in size.
- You could use it as stamp and die storage; it’ll hold stamp and die sets up to 6″ x 8″.

Cons: Downsides to the Vick Boutin Discover + Create Albums
Vicki Boutin’s Discover + Create albums do not have many downsides. Overall, the quality is outstanding, and I have been pleased with these albums.
BUT!
I would be a bad reviewer if I didn’t point out the things that could potentially be problematic to some crafters.
If you want to make all your scrapbooking layouts on matching paper, the cardstock pages in these albums will not work for that, because they are all different. In that case, I suggest either finding something else to use, or else just pulling out the un-matching pages and gifting those to a friend who could use them.
The other thing that could be a problem for some crafters: The albums don’t come with enough page protectors and inserts to actually fill them up.
I suppose this will not be a downside for every crafter. It certainly wasn’t a deal breaker for me!
But if you’re hoping to buy an album kit that will give you everything you need to put your project together, this isn’t it. So, in that case, you should keep looking for something else that will meet your needs better.
But if you have other craft supplies you want to use up, maybe you’ll see this as being more of a pro than a con.
Either way, if you enjoy scrapbooking in the 6”x8” size, I think it’s worth taking a look at these albums, because in my opinion, they offer an excellent value for the money you spend on them. These albums come bundled with many, but not all, of the craft supplies you’ll need for making a scrapbook album.
For the money you spend, you get the album itself, plus 12 page protectors, plus 8 extra pre-punched cardstock pages featuring highly usable dot grids, ledger, lined designs and artwork.
But you will need more than that to complete your album to the point that it is filled up.
In addition to the supplies that are included, you’ll need a minimum of photos and adhesive, but you’ll probably also want to add pages, because this album holds more pages and pocket protectors than what it comes with. The included items are basically just enough to get you started.
If you want to embellish your pages the way you see other scrapbookers doing on social media sites like Instagram and Pinterest, you’ll want to pick up some extra papers and / or embellishments to use in addition to what you get with the Discover + Create albums. You’ll also need to get adhesive to use for sticking your photos to the cardstock pages (although you don’t need to stick photos onto those pages if you don’t want to; it would also be possible to use the cardstock pages only for journaling).
