Mintay’s 6×8 Brick Wall Stencil From the Kreativa Collection
By Amy Solovay
Are you hoping to incorporate a brick wall image into any of your art or paper craft projects?
If so, this reusable brick wall stencil is just what you need.
The stencil measures 6″ wide by 8″ high, making it the ideal size to use for making 6″x8″ scrapbooking layouts. It’s also compatible with 6″x8″ albums like the Sn@p! binders by Simple Stories.
The brick wall stencil is suitable for use with many other craft techniques besides just scrapbooking. You can use it to make patterned images for card making, junk journaling, art journaling, collage art or whatever other paper craft techniques you have in mind.
This semi-transparent acetate stencil is part of the Kreativa Collection from the Polish manufacturer known as Mintay Papers. You can use this stencil with a variety of different media; the media you choose will depend on your budget and the effects you want to achieve:
- If you’re on a tight budget, ordinary acrylic paint is an affordable media to use with a stencil like this one. See also: What paint to use with stencils.
- If you’re looking for the easiest and/or prettiest media to use with this stencil, I highly recommend trying Stencil Butter by the Crafter’s Workshop. Out of all the options I’ve tried, Stencil Butter has given me the best results.
- You can use pens and markers with this stencil, although I don’t recommend this if you are impatient or in a hurry.
- Solar Paste by Simon Hurley for Ranger Industries
- Lunar Paste by Simon Hurley for Ranger Industries
- Pops of Color by Scrapbook.com
- Distress Mica Spray by Tim Holtz for Ranger Industries
- More! You have lots of additional choices besides these, but these are my current favorites.
Whichever media you use, this is a stencil that would benefit from an application of Pixie Spray or a similar repositionable adhesive before you use it.
(All the above-mentioned stenciling media and Pixie Spray are sold separately from the stencil).
I love this stencil and have found it to be reasonably sturdy. It is an appealing, useful and versatile design. It cleans up easily, but make sure that you do that as soon as possible after using it.
I’m delighted to recommend this stencil to other crafters. I think it offers outstanding value for its asking price, and I have found it to be useful for my own paper crafting projects. I really love it, and I think you will be likely to enjoy it, too.
Important Note: I am a real person, and this is an authentic product review. I paid full price for my Mintay brick wall stencil, and I think it was worth the price.
