Easy Free Crochet Pattern for Slightly Curved Circles to Crochet
These crocheted circles are slightly concave / convex. I originally designed them to be incorporated into a crocheted purse, but there are many different ways you could use this pattern if you’d like to crochet circles for use in other projects.
Crochet Skill Level: Easy.
Supply List:
Yarn Needed for Crocheting the Circles as Pictured: The photo above shows circles crocheted using 2 different balls of Bernat Mosaic, which is a self-striping yarn with long areas between color shifts.
Please don’t feel obligated to use the same yarn I did, as the circles could be lovely if crocheted in many different colors and types of yarn.
Crochet Hook: You’ll need a crochet hook in an appropriate size for use with the yarn you select.
Other Tools and Supplies Needed: Scissors and a tapestry needle
- beg = beginning
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- ea = each
- rep = repeat
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
Gauge:
There’s no need to match my gauge exactly. You can work your squares at any gauge that’s comfortable for you.
Design Note: At end of every round, sl st to join to beg of round, then ch 1.
How to Crochet the Circles:
Ch 3.
Round 1: 10 dc in 3rd ch from hook
Round 2: 2 sc in ea st around. (This gives you a total of 20 sc.)
Round 3: 1 sc in ea sc around. (20 sc total.)
Round 4: [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc.] Rep sequence in brackets 9 more times, then sc in next sc. (This gives you a total of 31 sc sts.)
Round 5: [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc.] Rep sequence in brackets 14 more times, then sc in next st. (46 sc total.)
Round 6: sc in ea sc around. (Total = 46 sc sts.)
Rounds 7-8: Rep round 6.
Round 9: Rep round 6 except increase 1 st at end of round. (47 sc total.)
Round 10: [1 sc in ea of next 2 sts. 2 sc in next sc.] Rep sequence in brackets 13 more times, then (sc in next sc) twice. Total =62 sc.
Round 11: 1 sc in ea sc around. Total = 62 sc.
