Planner Layout Created for the My Favorite Things Color Challenge

Hello crafty friends!

Here we have a planner layout that I was inspired to create because of the color challenge going on at the My Favorite Things Stamps blog. The challenge is to use their chosen color palette that includes Fire Coral, Lemon Drop, Limelight, and Jalapeño Popper. These are all colors that the folks at My Favorite Things make available in cardstock, dye ink pads, papers, and other products.

I LOVE these colors and LOVE this color palette, but I unfortunately don’t have any of the exact colors in my stash. The papers I have from My Favorite Things are all in other colors. Nevertheless, I played along with the challenge to the best of my ability using colors that are as close as I could find from my stash.

I stamped a turtle and squirrel duo from the “You’re My Jam” Clear Stamp Set by My Favorite Things; then I cut around it using scalloped scissors and colored the scalloped edge using marker that is the closest approximation I could find to the Limelight Green color.

For the “Lemon Drop” yellow, I stamped planner tracker stamps onto a random yellow cardstock from my stash using Black Soot Distress Oxide ink.

I used a few different coral-colored embellishments to emulate the Fire Coral color; the coral-colored stickers are all from Happy Planner sticker value packs. The coral-colored oval shape is another bit of random cardstock from my stash.

At the bottom right, you can see the closest approximation I could find for the “Jalapeno Popper” green color;it’s a cute coral-colored lizard on a deep green leaf. I would probably never have thought to use this particular sticker in this way, but there you have it — I stuck it there so I’d have a bit of “Jalapeno popper” on my page to round out the challenge requirements.

I really did find this challenge to be fun and challenging! My heartfelt thanks to the team at My Favorite Things for sponsoring the challenge and providing a little bit of extra motivation to get a new project made.
