Pinkfresh Studio Layering Stencils: Mark the Moment Set

The folks over at Pinkfresh Studio make coordinating product suites consisting of stamps, layering stencils and die sets.

They also sometimes make layering stencils that are standalone designs.

The “Mark the Moment” layering stencil set is part of a coordinating product suite that also includes a stamp set and die set.

These sets are sold separately, so you don’t have to buy them all if you don’t want to.

And, I didn’t buy the other coordinating products in the suite (yet).

You might want to buy these products together, depending on your needs.

But you don’t have to buy them together if you don’t want to. There are some good reasons to consider buying the stencils without the other products, even though some crafters will find them to be more useful as a complete set.

If you don’t have a die cutter, you won’t be able to use the dies.

Also, the largest dies in this set are unusable if you have a compact die cutter.

So you shouldn’t buy them if unless you have a die cutter large enough to use them.

This is why I didn’t buy the dies; I could use the sentiment dies, which are small enough to fit through my compact die cutter — but the largest dies in the set don’t fit.

And I didn’t buy the stamps because I don’t really need any of the images in the stamp set.

However, I love the stamp set, especially the sentiments it includes. So I’m really hoping to buy the stamp set in the future.

But I already have most of the same sentiments in other stamp sets made by other manufacturers — so it is a little hard to justify buying repeats of those.

The stencils, however, have some unique imagery. I don’t already have other comparable products to use for making the basic oval, hexagon, and diamond shapes from this stencil set.

These basic shapes are very easy to fussy cut. So if you don’t mind cutting with scissors, you can cut out these shapes without any problems. The dies would be nice to have, but they aren’t a necessity.

I also don’t have a comparable bicycle image or sailboat image — and these are images I’m very likely to use in my paper craft projects.

I was a liveaboard cruising sailor for 5 years, and my husband has been an avid mountain biker since he was a kid.

So I know I will be able to use these stencils in dozens or possibly hundreds of future projects, even though I don’t own any of the other coordinating “Mark the Moment” products.

Of course, the sailboat and bicycle images aren’t so easy to fussy cut — and so these stencils would be far more useful to me if I were also able to use the other coordinating products in the “Mark the Moment” product suite. But I don’t have them, and I’m not going to cry about that. I’m happy that these products are available for sale separately, and I will get a massive amount of use out of them, even without having the matching stamps and dies.

So, if you could use the entire product suite, I think it would be a worthwhile purchase. But for me, it was worth buying the layering stencil set without the other products.

I’ve used this stencil set in several projects, and I’ve been thrilled with it so far!

The stencils are flexible and translucent, so you can easily put them exactly where you need them.

So far, I’ve been able to keep them clean; they clean up easily.

I recommend these stencils to other crafters.
