I made this two-page scrapbooking layout to document a couple of my favorite crochet projects. One is a delicate beaded lace crochet choker necklace. The other is a lacy wool infinity scarf. I made both of these projects in 2014 when my husband, Mike, and I were living aboard our old sailboat, Viva.
At the time, we were docked at a popular port on the sunny Mediterranean coastline. Mike took both of these pics of me. We were in the Marina when we took the photo on the right-hand side of the page; we took the picture on the left at the beach outside the marina.
There’s a free crochet pattern available online for the Easy Beaded Lace Crochet Choker Necklace Pattern you see pictured above. I invite you to make use of it if that looks like a project you’d enjoy.
Craft Supplies You’ll Need for Creating a Similar Scrapbooking Layout:
- Patterned Papers: I used a mix of old and really old papers to create this scrapbooking page. On the right-hand side, the dreamy pink, coral and beige floral printed paper is called “This Story”; it’s from a collaboration between Pinkfresh Studio and Altenew that was really amazing, but unfortunately, is now discontinued and hard to find. On the left-hand side of the page, the damask-printed kraft paper is by one of my long-defunct former favorites, Making Memories.
- Photo Frame: I handmade my picture frame using the
We R Memory KeepersWe R Makers Frame Punch Board and ancient Bazzill cardstock (circa 2006). If you want a frame like this, but you don’t want to hassle with making it yourself, there are plenty of premade ones around that you can buy. - Lacy Border Dies: I am enchanted by the Lacey Edgers border dies made by Pinkfresh Studio. On this page, they are the perfect complement to the gorgeous crochet shell stitch edging on the infinity scarf I’m wearing in the photo. However, borders from these dies are finding their way into many of my paper craft projects, and I can’t get enough of them. I used them to die cut three slightly different papers, and I love the subtle variations between them.
- Journaling Card: I used a journaling card from the Coastal Collection by Simple Stories. You have abundant options for premade journaling cards if you’d rather choose a different design. I framed my journaling card with more of the Making Memories damask paper and inked around the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink by Tim Holtz for Ranger Industries.
- Journaling Sticker: I used a sticker from the “Year to Shine Goals” sticker book by The Happy Planner / Me & My Big Ideas.
- Sakura Gelly Roll Metallic Pens: You can’t really tell that well in the photos, but my journaling is written in shimmery, shiny pink ink from a Sakura Gelly Roll metallic pen.
Thanks so much for taking a look at my project. I appreciate your interest!
