A Worthwhile Sewing Project Idea: Don’t Resort to Storing Your Craft Supplies in Ugly Plastic Bins and Tubs. Make Yourself a GORGEOUS Custom Organizer for Your Crochet Hooks and Knitting Needles!
A lot of craft organizers out there are just plain ugly. If you want your craft supplies to be organized without resorting to using bunches of ugly plastic bins and tubs, there’s a creative solution you’ll definitely want to consider: Use a beautiful basket for housing your supplies.
Pictured above is a sizable round wicker basket with a lid. Inside the basket, there’s a custom, handmade muslin liner that the owner designed and stitched to use for organizing her collection of crochet hooks, knitting needles, gauges and other needlework tools.
This is a fantastic sewing project idea for sewists who also knit and / or crochet. If you need an organizer for your crochet hooks, knitting needles and yarn, you could whip up one of these pretty easily.
There are, of course, commercial patterns available for making needlework tool organizers — so if you are not confident of your abilities to either “wing it” or to design your own sewing pattern for a project like this, you could always use a commercial sewing pattern. It doesn’t seem like it would be too hard to take a roll-up style design and affix it inside a basket like this if you were inclined to do so.
This basket organizer is an attractive solution for storing and organizing a relatively small yarn stash. If your yarn stash is massive, you’d either need several of these baskets, or you’d need to think of additional yarn storage solutions to complement this one.
